Wonderwise, funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, was a project I worked on with the University of Nebraska State Museum. The project’s goal was to encourage an interest in science among 4th grade girls. Each kit showcased an individual scientist and her field of study. They contained a biography, an activity book, a video, and the items needed for each activity. There was a very small art budget for these projects, so I got quite creative with the graphics, which also had to be scientifically accurate. Dr. Judy Diamond, the project director, was happy with the results—and so was I.
